Everything at this small hotel was perfect as we expected. The guest room was immaculate and had an electric kettle, central heating and a work desk. The location was peaceful to quay, minutes from Sts Thomas Minster. It was in a quiet street.

It was supposed to be the travel lodge so was a bit of a surprise. Access to the hotel was well signed and in the absence of secure hotel parking the street car parking adjacent to hotel was very useful
The hotel was under new ownership and therfore difficult however paint and decoration would be good.

Location, on-street car parking right outside Great breakfast
No evening meal facility, and nearby restaurants booked up or don't take orders after 9.00 pm

The full English Breakfast far exceeded our expectations. We also appreciate the fact that the timeframe for breakfast enabled us to be totally relaxed. And of course the ambience!!!!!! We very much enjoyed chatting with the hotel owners and staff and sharing laughs with other guests yet we did not feel compelled to socialize. *note: we are from Canada and our 2 experiences in Canada were most disappointing because on both occasions, the B&B owner decided the specific time the guest is allowed to sit at the table and then sat with us to make small talk. My Canadian friends tell me that is how it should be but I disagree and really appreciate the British respect for privacy.
We have no complaints, just comments. Room #4 is small, which is quite understandable. Is the bed King or Queen size? Perhaps a double would fit better and then we could open the clothes cupboard door better. The shorter of us could not reach the bathroom fan button. And the kettle could do with a good scrubbing.

I booked again because I had excellent service and price the last time I stayed 22 months ago. Will certainly book here the next time I come.

Fantastic staff made us feel very welcome. Four guys arrived the day after a 4 day music festival expecting to be a bit out of place but staff were great. Got the hot water on straight away for us weary travellers and put on a good breakfast for us, earlier than normal to accomodate our travel plans. Lovely place.

central base for exploring newport's charm and parks
I loved the warm hospitality , especially when they prepared a sandwich and yogurt for my early departure, and the location couldn't be more perfect with both the Museum of Island History and tranquil green spaces just a short stroll away.

Close to town centre and easy to connect other towns in the island.
Break fast finishing time very poor. I think it should be around 10am. The checking out time is very bad. We paid for 24hrs and we are allowed to stayed only for 21hours. The checking out time should be between 11am and 11:45am.
